Privacy Policy

How we collect, store, and protect your personal data.

Last updated: June 2026

R.O.O.T.S. & B.O.O.T.S. NFP is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and services, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data. We do not sell personal information — ever.

Information We Collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. We do not collect or store your Google password. When you book a genealogy session, we collect your name, email address, phone number, preferred date and time, and any special requests or research notes you provide. When you sign a petition, we collect your name and email address solely to record your signature and provide updates on that campaign.

How We Store Your Data

All member data, booking records, and profile information are stored securely in our managed database, powered by Supabase, a SOC 2 Type II certified platform. Your data is associated with your authenticated user account and is accessible only to you and authorized R.O.O.T.S. & B.O.O.T.S. NFP staff. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to manage your membership account and session history, to communicate booking confirmations and updates, to track petition signatures and keep you informed of advocacy progress, and to improve our services and community programs. We may send occasional organizational updates to your email address. You may opt out of communications at any time by contacting us.

Google Sign-In & Authentication

We use Google OAuth exclusively for account authentication. This means we never store a password for your account. When you click "Continue with Google," you are redirected to Google's secure sign-in page, and we receive only the basic profile information you have made available. Your Google account settings control what profile data is shared. You may revoke our application's access at any time from your Google Account security settings.

Research Records & Genealogical Data

Any genealogical research notes, family history details, or ancestry information you share during sessions or enter into your profile are treated with the highest level of confidentiality. This data is used solely to support your personal research journey and is never shared publicly or with third parties without your explicit written consent. We understand the sensitive and personal nature of lineage research and are committed to protecting it.

Contact & Your Rights

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate data, and to request deletion of your account and associated records. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@rootsandboots1865.org. We will respond to all requests within 30 days. This policy may be updated periodically — continued use of the site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
